Ashe sat at the edge of her bed, scratching at the black marks on her arms. They constantly shifted under her skin and it itched like crazy. “Damn it all…”
“Careful there. You’ll scratch yourself to the bone if you keep that up.”
Ashe looked over to the corner the voice came from. It grew dark and a figure stepped out of the shadows. “Tekeru…To what do I owe the honor?” she asked stiffly, the marks glowing in his presence.
“Just a casual visit. I wanted to see how far the corruption has progressed.”
Ashe held up an arm, “See for yourself. It’s down both arms…”
“I can see some of it has started up your neck too.”
She paled and rushed to her mirror to check. Sure enough, she could see a tendril of the mark moving up towards her right ear. “Damn it all to hell.”
“Nah, don’t want it,” Ryan said, smirking. “You chose to read that book, you live with the consequences.”
Ashe’s shoulders fell, “So…I’m going to loose my soul?”
“Perhaps…If that mark ever reaches your heart and mind…” His grin grew, exposing his teeth, “Of course…Having a demonic dragon isn’t half bad…I wonder if I should force the mark to grow faster.”
Ashe’s eyes grew wide and she took a step back from him, “You…”
“Oh I could and I would if I wanted too~” Ryan stepped forward and grabbed her chin, “Mind you, I do not suffer weaklings in my ranks. I’ll let the mark take its course. As you are now, you’ll just be useless to me. Just know that the stronger you get, the more the mark grows. The more you use the mark’s powers, the faster it grows. It’s inevitable, but you will be mine someday.” He let her go and left.
Ashe sat down on her bed and started to cry.
